Day 3, 4, 5 Cape Town
Your rental car will be delivered to your hotel after breakfast. The days in Cape Town are free for your own activities. Of course, there are a variety of excursions and activities to undertake in Cape Town with or without a guide, e.g.
Go via Lion’s Neck along the mountain range “Twelve Apostles” to Hout Bay and take a boat out to Duiker Island to visit the seal colony that lives here. You can also see the lookout point from which sentries kept watch for enemy ships during the early days of the Cape Colony. After the boat trip you stroll around the cozy harbor, we recommend lunch at Wharfside Grill Restaurant in Mariner’s Wharf. A visit to the shops in Victoria & Alfred Waterfront is also a must. The transformation of the old harbor into the cozy Waterfront has given new life to the heart of Cape Town. Here you shop and eat good dinners at the many different restaurants.
Make a trip to Godahoppsudden nature reserve. In this part of the “Cape Floral Kingdom” you will find no less than 4,500 different plant species, the world’s highest concentration of different species in such a small area. When the cable car takes you up to the lighthouse at Cape Point, it is easy to imagine what it must have been like for Portuguese and Dutch seafarers as they sailed around here in their small ships filled with spices and silk on their way from Southeast Asia to Europe. Here the cold waves of the Atlantic meet the warm Indian Ocean.
More examples of different excursions and activities to undertake in Cape Town:
– City tour on foot
– Vithajssafari
– Champagne cruise
– Two Oceans Aquarium
– Visit Robben Island where Nelson Mandela was imprisoned.
– Helicopter tour across the Cape Peninsula.
